Spectrum is currently recruiting undergraduate & graduate student volunteer editors for the 2019-2020 academic year.  Together, the student editorial team oversees the journal workflow - promotion of the journal, screening of submissions, assignment of editors and reviewers, correspondence with authors, and production of two issues per academic year (Fall & Winter).

This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in undergraduate research to learn about the publication and peer review process from the inside out. Students from all disciplines are welcome to apply.  Previous research experience is an asset; however, editorial training will be provided.

The average time commitment for an editor is 3-5 hours/week over the course of the academic year, with the peer review and production period (late Fall/early Winter) typically being the most intense. The editorial team meets weekly (excluding Reading Weeks & final exam periods) from September-March, with work to complete independently between meetings. Editors may meet less frequently and/or correspond online during the summer months.

All new editors receive training, and are supported by the journal manager, faculty advisor(s) and returning editors.  Initial training & orientation for new editors will take place on a weekend in late April/early May (dates to be confirmed).

How to apply:

Apply online by March 25, 2019.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a brief interview during the week of April 1-5.
